A Student With A L. Mcdonough High School - 976 Words

Ayanna Perez is a senior at Maurice J. McDonough High School. She is an honor student with a 3.0 G.P.A., and she dreams of attending the University of Miami. Her senior year of high school is supposed to be one of the most astonishing moments of her life; however, it is the opposite of what she envisioned for herself. She is extremely stressed and depressed about how she is going to be able to afford to attend college. Not only knowing that college tuition is rising every year, but also considering the amount of debt that she would be in if she decides to obtain student loans. She cannot even imagine a possible, affordable way for her to further her education. While Chloe Moore, who is a senior as well, is extremely excited about graduating from the McDonough High School. Unlike Ayanna, Chloe comes from a wealthy family where her family can afford to send her to an Ivy League University or any university of her dreams. However, Chloe does not have the grades to be accepted into an Ivy League University, but since she comes from a wealthy family, her parents have a lot of connections at these universities. Chloe’s G.P.A. is barely a 2.0 and throughout her high school career, she struggled to see her graduation day. While Ayanna has the grades, but her family does not have the connections at any university nor can barely afford to send her to a community college.
